Kyle Holmes spent a decade as the Director of Theatre Arts at Granite Bay High School in Northern California. His program’s season included five theatre courses, three main stage productions, and his students have gone on to create art in Los Angeles, New York City, Ashland, Oregon, and across the United States

In 2018, he co-authored California’s K-12 Standards for Theatre Arts.

Holmes has dedicated his career to ensuring every student has the opportunity to create during their time in public education, and every educator feels supported and empowered in creating those opportunities. He has been invited to speak, teach and consult with artists, educators and students from University of California schools, California State Universities, the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), South by Southwest (SXSW) EDU, and school districts from California to New York.

Holmes received his B.A. in English from UC Davis, as well as his single-subject teaching credential in English and his Master of Arts degree in Education. Additionally, he holds an Administrative Services credential and a Career Technical Education (CTE) Credential for Arts, Media and Entertainment.

In 2021, Holmes co-founded Uproar Theatrics, a new theatrical licensing company dedicated to connecting educational and regional theatre markets to exquisite new material.

After spending time as both an educational theatre director and a playwright, it became evident that the current pipeline for theatre is built to create commercially successful productions. Uproar connects forward-thinking theatre creators across the world to new plays and musicals, all while making sure world-class creators get compensated for their exceptional work. The world is bigger than just 41 Broadway houses, after all.

The first-of-its-kind company uses an all-digital model that allows actors to perform plays that are still being developed, and creators to be compensated for the developmental process.
